Bloqué, the Rectilinear Bombay Sapphire Martini Glass
Bloque is a simple yet compelling martini glass fashioned in the ideals of Bombay Sapphire. Audacious in its simplicity yet undeniably striking in its implementation, Bloque evokes the leadership and trendsetting elegance that Bombay Sapphire has displayed in the Martini Gin market.
Bloque consists of two main design elements, the iconic martini glass cone and a solid crystal block. Exactly half of the he martini cone projects from the side of the crystal block while the other half has been milled from the crystal. The tension that the cone generates by braking into the ‘ice’ block symbolizes the power, trendsetting, and importance Bombay Sapphire has in gin market for martinis. Bombay Sapphire is a company that will use its force and essence to drive into areas that only a leader can tread. The imbedded cone looks as if it has thrusted itself into the crystal and made it its own, taking ownership of it. I see Bombay Sapphire as a company that desires to make itself the center of the martini world, an elegant symbol of what a martini is and isn’t afraid to be different as long as it is the right course of action. Bloque reflects that by being different because it needs to be, by being heavy yet elegant, and by being beautiful by the shear fact that it exists. Bloque is a trendsetter just like Bombay Sapphire. Bombay Sapphire’s gin is a calculated Liquor and balance is an important element of it’s being. Bloque emphasizes this by being proportional, balanced and forceful when needed yet remaining calculated all the while (as seen in how close the radius of the cone comes to the edge of the crystal block and the beautiful lip it creates.) Finally, the crystal block symbolizes the cool, crisp temperature a martini should be served at.
Bloque is a usable martini glass but it is meant to be so much more. Its presence is an attention getter and Bloque from its implementation, it was designed to be used in Bombay Sapphire marketing and in martini displays.
